Photographed, Not Drawn
New
Real materials — aluminium catches a soft highlight that slides across it as the device turns, keycaps and feet read as matte, and the screen sits in a black-glass bezel inside a metal lip; dark finishes keep their highlight instead of going flat
Photographed light — Studio, Window and Warm in the Light panel now light the device from real photographed environments, reflected in its metal; Off is still a plain three-light setup
Shadows where the light would cast them — the key light casts a real shadow, so an open lid shades the deck beneath it and the shadow on the floor follows the device's shape as it turns, instead of a flat oval
Shade in the corners — the hinge, the base of each key and the inside of the ports sit in their own shade, so the keys no longer look pasted onto the deck
The same look in the video editor — a posed device on the screen recorder's stage is drawn with the same materials, light and shadows, in the preview and in the exported file
The Pro laptop card is a modelled device — bevelled edges, a sculpted body and dished keycaps with legends; its card in the device picker is marked Authored
Every recording still gets a laptop — when a recording's shape is too far from the modelled screen, the card says Drawn for this shape and the generated body stands in, instead of the model being withheld
Improved
New mockups start under the Studio light — a new 3D mockup, and a new device stage in the video editor, open lit by Studio; projects you already saved keep the light they had
Exports never ship a half-loaded device — a video or mockup export waits for the device model and the chosen light to load, and if either can't, it stops and writes nothing rather than rendering a stand-in
The narration export says what it is — the guide's export list now labels the narration script as text with no audio, and the MP4 walkthrough row explains that turning on Generate ▸ Narration reads each step aloud, with no need to regenerate
Fixed
Fixed 4K mockup exports blending the floor reflection differently — translucent layers now mix the same way at 4K as at every other size, so a 4K file looks like the smaller ones
