Full-screen playback, and the capybara joins the cast
New
Watch full screen. Every video player — the finished cut, the cut up for review, takes in the Director and Generate, Playground results and Assets — has a Full screen button, and double-clicking the video does the same. Player mode fills the screen and picks up where the small player was: Space plays and pauses, the arrow keys seek and set the volume, M mutes, and Esc or F hands the position back to the small player.
The capybara is a feature character. It is now built by the same data-driven character builder as the panda — a sculpted, skinned body on the biped rig with a long blunt muzzle, nostrils high on its tip, small ears set far back, calm deep-set eyes, a paler belly, dark webbed toes and two front teeth — so it acts out every move and expression in the library and grows fur at final quality. Eyes and lids can now be aimed in a character definition, so side-set eyes look outward instead of straight ahead.
Sunlit 3D shots are lit from the front. The sun rig placed the sun and its sky fill behind the subject relative to the camera, so outdoor shots without a kit environment rendered as silhouettes. Both now sit in front, the sun on the key side.
No shot-code slate in the film. Feature-look takes no longer render the previz slate, so it stops showing up in the director's cut.
Bare stages are flagged. A feature-look shot with no environment, backdrop or HDRI now warns the directing agent, which fixes it in the same repair loop as the other checks.
Switching productions no longer mixes them up. Opening another production while a director run was breaking down its story could write that breakdown into the production you switched to, replacing its story and shots. The switch now waits until the run reaches a gate, and a breakdown only ever lands in the production it started in. The Story, Cast & World and other workspaces also reload when you switch, instead of keeping the previous production's text.
