Changelog
Shipped, fixed, and improved
Every 1DesignTool release, straight from the release notes that ship with the product.
New
- A CAD parts workspace (preview). Start a parametric enclosure, mount, bracket, clip or stand from Home, inspect named solids and hardware fits, and adjust dimensions in the preview before committing a revision. The workspace includes a printer profile, saved history, a read-only model source, fit reports and a path to your slicer. Geometry and export checks report missing evidence explicitly; physical fit and printability still need testing on real hardware.
- Manufacturing exports for CAD designs. Export separate printable parts as STL or 3MF, or a part or assembly as STEP. The CAD gate checks solid geometry, sampled wall thickness, declared clearances and export integrity before presenting its findings.
- Send a design to 1VideoTool. Send a character still, 2D puppet, customized character GLB or supported 3D scene as a portable asset. Desktop waits for a confirmed import into 1VideoTool Assets and offers retry or a saved .1vasset bundle; the browser demo downloads the bundle for manual import.
Improved
- Design reports are easier to scan. The chat card and Checks drawer share a verdict, per-check meter and counts for passes, findings and checks that did not apply. Viewport findings still open the matching stage width and offer a targeted fix.
Fixed
- Artboard strips show previewable pages. Internal kit and evidence HTML no longer appears as a design page; selecting a regular or language-specific page keeps the stage's page selection in sync.
- 3D loading overlays clear when the scene is ready. The scene runtime now finds status and error elements placed beside the scene root, so those elements do not stay over the model after loading.

Export a design system from the design you just made
New
- Export a design system out of a generated design. The preview's share menu gains *Design system (tokens + DESIGN.md)*, which serves the page, measures what it actually renders — palette, type, radii, shadow, motion — and writes an importable package: design-system.json, tokens.css, tokens.json, direction.json, DESIGN.md, components.html, a thumbnail and its measurement reports. Import it in Systems to start the next brief from the look you already have, instead of describing it again in prose. The result line names the token and colour counts and any contrast repairs. It is a metered render, and it is refused on codebase projects, where the design lives behind your own dev server and Build mode's Tokens tab covers it.
- Measurement and token generation are shared. extract-style.mjs and tokens.mjs now build on lib-style-dna.mjs and lib-tokens.mjs, so an extracted package and a tokens.mjs run cannot disagree about the same design.
Improved
- The prompt bubble renders markdown. A brief dispatched over MCP arrives as markdown — headings, lists, fenced code, #rrggbb swatches — and the bubble showed it raw, with no line breaks, so a long one collapsed into a single unreadable paragraph. It now goes through the same escape-first renderer the agent's replies use, and the source tag (via MCP · <connection>) and version tag sit on their own line above it rather than running into the first sentence.
- A long prompt clamps behind a toggle. Rendered markdown is taller than the paragraph it replaced, so a prompt past roughly sixteen lines fades out at the clamp and offers *Show full prompt*. The measurement follows the chat column as it is dragged, and *Copy* still copies the markdown source.
Fixed
- The device stage scrolls properly (BUG-129). The host-drawn indicator on a device stage is a real draggable scrollbar now, because the artifact's own bar is suppressed there. A second fit measurement stops viewer chrome sizing the device taller than its room and nesting a second scroller inside it, and the artboards strip is capped so it can no longer crowd out the stage.
- The composer footer and Talk cards stop overflowing (BUG-128). Home's pickers wrap into their own block, so a linked repo cannot push the Start buttons off the row; a linked-code chip shows the basename alone, capped at 18 characters; Talk card titles wrap their decision text and chips into two zones.

A rigged 3D character starter you can remix and export
New
- An editable 3D character starter. Create an original stylized adventurer in your character's palette with local Blender. The starter includes clothing, accessories, a 22-joint body rig, blink morphs and idle, walk and wave animations. Editable Blender source, GLB, rig metadata and studio renders travel with the character pack.
- Remix the model in the 3D studio. Choose palette presets, click a part or select it by name, and adjust its color, roughness, metalness and visibility independently. Compatible starters offer head size, scarf length and backpack size sliders. Customizations are remembered on this device for each project and source model.
- Shape the preview's look. Choose original PBR, flat, clay or unlit shading and combine outline, wireframe, dither, underwater, wobble and pixelation effects. Adjust the background, exposure, lighting and ground; use auto rotation, fullscreen and front, side or back views.
Improved
- More reliable starter deformation. Continuous elbows and knees, normalized skin weights, planted walking feet and coordinated facial blinks keep the character readable throughout its embedded motions. Builds verify the exported artifact before publishing its status and preserve existing 3D assets when the character changes during a build.
Fixed
- Customized exports keep the correct model scale. Saving during animation restores the captured rest pose on an independent export copy, preserving armature scale and leaving the live preview intact.
- Part controls respond immediately. Color, material and visibility edits update their controls consistently in Chromium and WebKit.
New
- A workspace for Character Design. Start with a concept image, review and lock the character's canonical references, then build turnaround, expression, mouth, eye and pose sheets and alternate appearances. The workspace keeps the character bible, style, delivery status and hardware details beside the artwork.
- Approve character image batches before they run. Edit or drop a proposed job, approve up to three candidates per item, and select the result to keep. Pinned references accompany generation; completed batches get a separate consistency review. Asset provenance, rights decisions and licence text travel with the character.
- Portable character packs and agent access. Export and import .charpack files, fork a character while keeping its pinned identity, and restore named checkpoints. Read-only character MCP tools let permitted agents inspect registered characters for reuse; access to future projects is an explicit grant option.
Improved
- See which agents can access this project. The stage and Artifacts handoff panels show agents with a live MCP grant for the current project and link directly to MCP settings.
Fixed
- New designs use the actual Documents folder. The default projects location follows the OS Documents path, including redirected Windows and OneDrive folders. Folder errors show the affected path and how to change it in Settings; long messages remain readable.
- Character concepts stay visible while sheets are pending. A character with only a generated reference opens on a large Concept view, with a clear action to review and lock the face. Arbitrary reference filenames load and images refresh after preview changes.
- SVG illustrations load from custom media folders. Character references and other SVG artwork under folders such as art/ now render in the preview.
New
- A ping when a design finishes. Settings → General gains *Notify when a design is done* — a desktop notification when a design settles while the studio is in the background or another project is on screen. It fires once the design has actually settled: after any auto-fix round, or when the council finishes an orchestrated turn, never mid-repair. Notification permission is asked on the first finished design, not at launch.
- Open the preview when a design finishes. An opt-in companion toggle opens the finished design's preview in your default browser. It steals focus, so it is off until you ask for it.
- Every artboard as its own image. A page holding several deliverables — a card set, an icon family, banners in every size — marks each one data-artboard="<name>". When the stage page carries two or more, Share / export offers *Each artboard* as PNG or JPEG at 1× and 2×: each piece is captured at its true layout size with the gallery's scaling and clipping lifted, into an export folder with a manifest.json of decoded dimensions. The design kit now teaches agents the attribute, so a brief for "a set of…" arrives already exportable.
Improved
- Pages can link their own media. The preview server stays default-deny for markup, script, style and data, but rendered media — images, video, audio, PDF — now serves from any non-hidden, non-blocked folder, so a board that links its own exports (og/og-app.png, renders/slide-01.webp) opens them.
- Social exports can't collide on a shared preset. When several placements use one preset — an og-card per product — files are now named by placement id (<slug>_<placement-id>@<scale>x.<ext>) instead of the preset, and --verify-export checks the same names.
Fixed
- Clicking a placement on a social board selects the placement. A board that links its own placements/<id>.html used to navigate the stage to a page it doesn't track; it now opens that placement — the true-size canvas, safe-area guides and per-placement export all follow.
- Element picking survives a navigation. Following a link in the middle of a pick landed on a page whose clicks navigated instead of picking — pick mode is re-armed on the new document.

Steer a running turn, design systems rebuilt from your sources, and 3D product shots
New
- Steer a running turn. While a turn runs, the composer offers Continue and Steer. Continue queues a follow-up as before; Steer checkpoints the running task and resumes it with your instruction — completed work is kept and the new instruction applies to what's left. Queued messages are editable in place (click one to edit, ⌘⏎/Ctrl↵ saves, Esc cancels), each keeps its own attachments, and *Steer now* on a queued message applies it immediately instead of waiting for the turn to end.
- Sent attachments preview in place. A filename chip on a sent message is now clickable — images open in a dialog inside the studio, and any file offers *Open in default app*. Attachment chips on conversations saved before this release work the same way.
- Design-system packages travel whole. *Save as design system* and *Import design system…* (renamed — Claude Design exports still import) now carry the complete design-system.json package: components, documentation, fonts, exports, reports and assets, not just tokens and rules. Applying a system installs all of it and records the package's version on the project.
Improved
- Video exports say how repeatable they are. The manifest labels each export deterministic-seek or real-time-fallback, so what a re-export will do is visible before you trust the frames.
Fixed
- The activity card no longer fights the stage. It rendered under the 3D scene inspector, and a long activity log could grow past the bottom of the stage with its controls unreachable. The card now sits above the inspector, scrolls inside the stage's height with its dismissal and detail controls pinned, and the empty overlay area passes clicks through to the preview.
- Scrubbing a clip leaves materials as it found them. Previewing animation that touches opacity, transparency, emissive color or alpha cutoff used to leak those values into the base material; the playhead's overlay now restores all of them.
- A broken environment fails the export. A capture whose environment texture couldn't load used to warn and render anyway; it now errors, so an exported frame can't silently ship untextured.
Improved
- A dismissed activity card is still one click away. Closing the live activity overlay now folds it into a slim status pill at the bottom of the stage. The pill keeps the current stage visible and reopens the full card.
- The composer fits narrow chat panels more naturally. Agent, quality, attachment, history and version controls now share the available rows with the composer actions. At the narrowest widths, the agent chip drops its model suffix before the controls become crowded.
Fixed
- Long links stay inside chat and result cards. URLs and paths without natural break points now wrap at the card edge instead of spilling beyond the chat column.
- Design-kit actions run on Windows again. The flow library answered "EISDIR: illegal operation on a directory, lstat 'C:'", and so did everything else that starts a design-kit script with Node — Knowledge, the checks after a turn, video export and Build mode's harness. The installed app spelled its kit folder \\?\C:\…, and Node cannot start a script from that spelling. Kit and harness paths now reach Node in their plain form.
New
- Compare verifies a Build edit at more than one size. Turn Compare on, pick a second device and/or the other theme — the choice is remembered per project — and every edit is re-rendered and verified there too. The stage shows the primary render beside each variant as scroll-linked tiles, sized in proportion to their devices. A variant that fails rolls the whole edit back and names itself as the cause, above its render.
- Edits inside a shared component ask before they spread. When the selected element is defined in another file, the panel says "Defined in <file> · N on this screen" and asks whether the change is for all N. Yes changes the component itself and verifies every instance on screen, reporting how many it covered and which usage sites it could not render. An edit meant for one usage that reaches the others rolls back as a leak.
Improved
- Build edits are written the way your code is written. A style edit lands in the element's own idiom — its Tailwind classes, its CSS-module or global stylesheet rule, its styled-components or emotion template, its StyleSheet entry — and never as a new inline style. An edit no codemod can make in that idiom stops with *Ask the agent*, which sends it to the project's agent as a verified turn.
- One lint list. Build → Lint shows the last agent turn's kit checks beside the harness findings, in the same rows. Kit findings now carry a stable rule id (tells.spacing-off-scale) instead of a generic tells, so the verify list and the auto-fix prompt name the check that fired.
- Agents are told the whole edit contract. apply_and_verify now describes scope: "definition" for changing a shared component, variants for extra device and theme renders, and where an LLM task's range may reach. propose_intents understands more plain requests — "more room", "rounder", "bold", "make it a row" — and says to write the intent directly when it can't.
Fixed
- A vanished worktree comes back on Windows. When an isolated branch's worktree folder had been deleted, re-creating it failed with "could not create leading directories": the recorded path is spelled \\?\C:\…, which Git for Windows can't take. Worktree paths now reach Git in their plain form.

Build and Sketch on your own codebase, on an isolated branch
New
- Pick a design system by what you're making. The composer chip regroups into None, starter directions under plain names — SaaS, Landing page, Internal tool, iOS app, Colorful — your own systems, then the rest of the kit. Hover or focus a row and a miniature screen painted in its palette and heading font previews beside the list — no build needed to judge. The default is now None: the agent picks a direction from your brief, and your last pick is remembered.
- Four new kit directions. SaaS, Landing page, Internal tool and Colorful join the catalog (17 directions in all), each a complete package — palette, fonts, type scale, radius, shadow, motion — and each a starter in the picker above.
- External calls can name the agent. design_generate and project_create accept runtime and model — or a directive inside the brief itself (@codex/gpt-5, agent: codex, model: gpt-5). A call that names none reuses the previous call's pick, then the Settings → MCP access default, then the project's own. server_info now lists the runtime ids a caller may name.
Improved
- Menus sit where their button is. The activity feed, the conversation switcher, each conversation's ⋯ menu and the scene editor's export menu now anchor to the control that opened them, and the activity list re-lays its rows so long titles wrap under the status line instead of squeezing to a letter per line.
Fixed
- Esc peels one layer at a time. Renaming a conversation and pressing Esc cancels the rename instead of closing the whole list, and Esc on a zoomed release-note screenshot closes the zoom before the dialog.
- A failed codebase adopt says so. An adopt the host refuses surfaces as a toast with the reason instead of the sheet closing quietly.
